3 Tips on How to Take Control of Your Time

3 Tips on How to Take Control of Your Time

One of the most common stressors that bring a lot of problems to so many people's lives is time. Time can cause several kinds of problems. People have to deal with the lack of enough time to finish all their tasks, and they have to meet time deadlines. Aside from that, they have to manage their time well so they can spend enough time on demands coming from their personal life and from their careers.

A lot of people go through their daily lives in a hurried frenzy. Do you sometimes look at the clock and can't seem to believe what you're seeing? Time can fly by so fast when you have to do a lot of things, and there never seems to be enough time for all of them. And since we are wired to operated based on time, we are, in all respects, under the full control of an innocent machine called the "clock."

Unfortunately, if you don't handle your time well, you can't succeed in business or in any other endeavor you get involved in. So if you want to get out from under the control of your clock, you have to do something. Here are some tips on how to be in control of your time.

1. Stop looking at the clock. The first thing to do is get rid of your habit of always looking at the clock. Being aware of time will make it harder for you to see time as something flexible that you can control. Just make sure to do your tasks continuously and with motivation. Constantly looking at your clock will also make your concentration suffer.

If you've developed this habit, you can get rid of it with the help of subliminal messages. Subliminal messages can help you change the way you perceive time in general. This way, you won't feel enslavened by it. You can fill your mind with positive thoughts about time such as:

I manage time well.

Time is flexible.

2. Pick your activities wisely. If you want to succeed by using time well, it's not about fitting in as many activities as you can within a certain time period. It is better to have a few but very carefully selected activities than to have many poorly selected activities.

Multi-tasking may be a common concept nowadays, but it is not as helpful as you think, especially when you try to juggle too many tasks at once. What happens is that the important activities get hampered by less important ones.

So here's what you should do: choose the activities that are most profitable and give up those that are not that beneficial.

3. Set a clear schedule. It is important to have a set schedule that you will follow every day and which you can modify each day, when necessary. Try to follow your schedule despite sudden concerns you face within the day. Just modify the schedule in times of crisis, but don't let this happen a lot. Constantly interrupting your time schedule will not plant good time management habits in you.
